Tennessee won back-to-back games against Dallas and New England earlier this month but now looks to bounce back this week from a 38-10 loss at Indianapolis last week. The Titans, perhaps ripe for a letdown following their big effort against the Patriots, were losing 24-0 in the second quarter and could not mount a challenge, in a performance better left forgotten.

Two weeks ago Tennessee jumped out to a 17-3 first-quarter lead on New England and never let the Patriots back in the game in a 34-10 victory. On the day the Titans out-gained New England 383-288 and ran the ball for 150 yards. And just before that Tennessee out-gained the Cowboys 340-297 and ran the ball for 125 yards in a 28-14 triumph.

So the Titans have out-gained and out-rushed three of their last four opponents, going 3-1 ATS along the way. At 5-5 overall Tennessee is basically tied with Baltimore and three other teams for the No. 6 spot in the AFC playoff standings.

The Texans just extended their winning streak to seven in a row with a 23-21 victory at Washington last week. Houston scored the first 10 points of the game and led 17-7 at the half. It fell down 21-20 early in the fourth quarter but immediately drove for a field goal to re-take the lead and held on from there.

On the day the Texans out-gained the Redskins 320-278, ran the ball for 139 yards, recorded five sacks and scored on a 101-yard pick-six. Houston has now out-gained three of its last four opponents, and out-rushed each of its last four foes. It’s also 3-1 ATS over that span.

At 7-3 overall the Texans lead the AFC South by two games over the Titans and Colts, and they now trail Pittsburgh by just a half game in the battle for the No. 2 spot in the AFC playoff standings.

Tennessee beat Houston back in September 20-17 but the Texans actually out-gained the Titans that day 437-283. And at the moment Houston is the much more consistent team. Also, Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota is considered questionable for this game after suffering a stinger last week. Smart money here takes the Texans.

For one group of five friends, the Grey Cup means an opportunity to reunite, year after year.Hugh Harrison and his wife, Donna, first met Cheryl Graham and her husband, Daniel, along with Betty Halliday at the 88th Grey Cup in Calgary back in 2000.

“We’re wearing drover coats made out of the flags of our respective teams. We wear the coats proudly and we walk around and take a lot of pictures,” said Donna, who travelled to Edmonton with her husband from north of Sudbury, Ont.

“I got that idea from somebody in Alberta. I went home and sketched it all out, I’ve still got that original drawing that I sketched. We’ve had so much fun with these. I’ve made 55 coats,” said Halliday. “It takes eight hours of sewing and about two weeks in total.”

Donna said that despite her outfit choice and season tickets to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, she’s not sure if she would classify herself as being a “super fan.”

“We are a fan of the league and the sport. We are like-minded people; we all come together and cheer for a good game and a good outcome,” said Donna. “We came for the party and we stay for the game.”

Raiders vs Ravens

Raiders vs Ravens – The Ravens can win their second straight game and move above .500 in their battle for an AFC playoff spot. With just six games left, the Ravens are among five AFC teams at 5-5 and Baltimore currently holds the sixth and final playoff seed. A victory would keep Baltimore in control of its playoff destiny.

The Ravens hold a 7-3 edge in the all-time series, including a 5-1 record in Baltimore. Last season, the Ravens won in Oakland, 30-17, as cornerback Jimmy Smith scored on a 47-yard fumble return that helped stake Baltimore to a 21-3 lead. Ravens wide receiver Michael Crabtree, who spent 2015-17 with the Raiders, caught a 41-yard touchdown pass against Baltimore last season.

Jackson’s first NFL start was a success, as he rushed for 115 yards and led the Ravens to a 24-21 victory. However, the Ravens want to reduce the 27 rushing attempts Jackson had against the Bengals. They would also like to get their wide receivers more involved. If Jackson gets the nod over Joe Flacco (hip), it will be interesting to see how much the Ravens’ game plan changes in one week and how opponents adapt.

Only the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers have fewer takeaways than the Ravens, who have just seven. Baltimore’s last takeaway was a fumble recovery by defensive tackle Michael Pierce in Week 7 against the Saints. The Ravens could make things easier on themselves by forcing the Raiders into a few mistakes.

Rookie running back Gus Edwards and Jackson both topped 100 yards rushing against the Bengals, who have the worst rushing defense statistically in the NFL. Guess who has the second-worst rushing defense? The Raiders. A strong running game could continue to be the Ravens’ recipe for success.

The Raiders could assign a spy to Jackson, hoping to prevent him from making big plays with his legs. It will be important for Jackson to make tacklers miss, and to avoid big hits when he decides to scramble.

Cook leads Oakland in receptions (45) and receiving yards (577). Covering tight ends has given Baltimore problems in the past, and Cook is the target that Raiders quarterback Derek Carr relies on in key situations, particularly in the red zone and on third down.

Brown has been held to 28 receiving yards or fewer in three of the last four games. Baltimore needs to reestablish Brown as a big-play threat, and Oakland has struggled in pass coverage. Jackson may test Oakland’s secondary with some deep targets to Brown.

Chargers vs Cardinals

Cardinals vs Chargers – LOS ANGELES — The Cardinals have six games remaining and aren’t going to make the playoffs, so some would characterize this final stretch as playing out the string. To Steve Wilks, it’s much more important than that. The Cardinals’ first-year coach is still hard at work looking for ways to improve the team, an idea planted so firmly in his head that it pervades his thoughts even during time away from the facility.

Watch Cardinals vs Chargers Live

“I don’t think you ever get away from the game, really,” Wilks said. “I know I always tell the guys, ‘Be where your feet are,’ and it’s the same thing at home. You want to be a father and a husband, but you’re always thinking about ways to get better.”

The Cardinals (2-8) made a flurry of moves this week, including the release of one-time starting cornerback Jamar Taylor and the promotion of undrafted rookie receiver Jalen Tolliver to the active roster. Wilks is looking for any advantage he can find as the Cardinals prepare for Sunday’s matchup against the Chargers.

“We’re going to continue to try to turn the back end of the roster,” Wilks said. “We’re looking to evolve as we move forward and try to finish the season strong.”

Be it familiar mugs or new ones leading the way, the Cardinals need to get back on track, as their encouraging two-game stretch against the 49ers and Chiefs hit a full stop in last week’s last-second home loss to the Raiders.

Rookie quarterback Josh Rosen was up and down, throwing for a career-high three touchdowns but with two picks and a 45 percent completion rate. Offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich is encouraged by his progress even if the numbers don’t scream it.

“He’s getting so much better,” Leftwich said. “I’m telling you, this kid is getting better every week. Sometimes it doesn’t show, because he’s not in a position to make it show and everyone sees it, but we’re getting better every week. As long as we keep doing that we’ll be fine.”

The Cardinals have at least unlocked David Johnson, who has returned to the form that previously made him one of the NFL’s most dangerous running backs. In three games under Leftwich, Johnson is averaging 145.7 total yards per game, which is more than double what he averaged in the first seven under former offensive coordinator Mike McCoy.

“He has that ability, and you can see right now, the last couple of games you’re starting to see what he can do in all phases,” Wilks said.

The Cardinals’ defense has been steady the past three weeks but has not forced a turnover. This seems like the type of game in which a couple will be needed, because Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers continues to play at a high level.

Cornerback Patrick Peterson said Rivers will let the defense know it if he gets the upper hand. Peterson would much rather the gloating come from his own team’s quarterback.

“As far as talking trash, talking smack, Philip is definitely on top of the list, hands down,” cornerback Patrick Peterson said. “I think Josh will be a close No. 2 once he continues to get his feet wet.”

Watch Steelers vs Broncos Live

Regardless of their 4-6 record, the Denver Broncos represent a significant challenge for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 12. While many fans will have fond memories of the Steelers AFC Championship victory at Mile High in 2006, trips to that stadium have generally not gone well for Pittsburgh as of late and Mike Tomlin is 1-4 in his five visits to Denver since 2007.

The Broncos might not have the talents of Peyton Manning under center anymore, but they still possess one of the league’s better defenses thanks to players like Von Miller and his impressive rookie teammate Bradley Chubb. After a surprising road victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 11, Denver still has hope that postseason football remains a possibility for them in 2018 and Pittsburgh should be prepared for a team fighting for their playoff lives on Sunday.

Given the strength of the Steelers schedule over the last three weeks of the season, they cannot afford to drop games like this if want they a bye during wildcard weekend. However, should their offense score over 28 points against the Broncos, it should be good enough for the win considering Denver has only scored more 27 points once this season.
